Thank you for your interest in The Brighton School. The Brighton School, grades K-12, assists students with dyslexia and related learning differences, empowering them to achieve. Our admissions staff stands ready to assist you
The Brighton School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. The Brighton School does not discriminate on the basis or race, color, national and ethic origin in the administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship, athletic and other school sponsored programs.
Our admissions process is unique. It identifies students who will benefit from our highly specialized curriculum:
1. Parents are encouraged to contact the admissions coordinator for complete admissions information and to schedule a tour of the school. The middle and high school campus is located at 12108 Parkmeadow Ave., Baton Rouge, LA 70816 and can be reached at 225-291-2524. The elementary school campus is located at 9150 Bereford Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70809 and can be reached at 225-923-2068.
2. To be considered for enrollment, all students are required to have a psychoeducational evaluation administered by a licensed psychologist with a diagnosis of dyslexia or other related learning difference. The psychoeducational evaluation is considered current if completed within the last three years. The evaluation must include an IQ test with scores of average to above average intelligence. There can be no major behavioral or emotional issues that would interfere with the learning of the student or other students in the classroom.
A copy of your child’s psycho-educational evaluation and an enrollment application must be sent to the admissions coordinator at the school to which you are applying. If it is determined that your child meets the criteria for enrollment, the registration process can begin. An admissions appointment will be made with the appropriate school staff to discuss placement and accommodations. The school admissions committee will then make the decision regarding enrollment. The Business office will handle the registration contract following approval of enrollment.
