Shirley Grimes, MS

Shirley Grimes joined The Brighton School during the 2023-2024 school year.  She serves as a Reading Teacher in our Academic Center.  Shirley has a master’s degree in Speech and Language Therapy, a Plus 30 in Administration and Supervision, and certification in Special Education.  Her training truly comes with background knowledge and skills of working with students with unique learning differences.  Shirley has a wealth of training on Dyslexia, Reading Deficits, and Individualizing Instruction. She has served on core leadership teams, supported teachers with writing IEPS and Service Plans, and assisted with curriculum, lesson plan development, and implementation. Prior to Brighton, Shirley worked in the Ascension School District for 31 years and previously served as Special Education Coordinator.  Shirley believes that ALL children can achieve and be successful. She inspires those around her and facilitates curriculum at all levels with one focus – helping all students succeed.
